Bishop Nathaniel
Holcomb
Aug 5, 1952 — Nov 27, 2018
Salado
Nathaniel Holcomb was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 5, 1952. He was the second child born to the late Nathaniel and Nellie Holcomb. He was privileged to be raised by his step-father William "Bill" Royster, who he affectionately called "Dad".
In 1977, he married Valerie Ivy Holcomb who he would publicly refer to as, "My wife for life, the queen of my dreams; it's so easy to think about heaven because I'm living with an angel". Each birthday he gave his queen a card that read, "You still got it and I still want it." The day before his death he asked her if he had been a good husband to her, and she replied, " The Best !".
His marriage to Madeline Connor in 1969, and to Valerie Ivy Holcomb in 1977 blessed him with five children; Dana Holcomb, Mark Connor, Nicole Constance Dudley Holcomb, Nathaniel Holcomb III and Tyrone Holcomb.
While seeking a better way of life, the Lord led him with his family to Crenshaw Christian Center under the pastorship of Dr. Frederick K.C. Price. In April 1977, he went forward to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Before receiving the Lord Jesus Christ, he had a very promising and lucrative recording contract with Motown Records. After receiving the Lord, he could no longer continue in that vein. After his salvation, the Lord spoke to him and said, "I have not called you to a stage of entertainment, I've called you to the pulpit- to pull my people out of the pit".
After joining the United States Army in January 1980, Nathaniel came to Fort Hood, Texas. He joined Clear Creek Baptist Church under the pastorship of Pastor Edward Thomas. During his time at Clear Creek he would bring several carloads of people to every service. Pastor Edwards recognized the calling on Nate's life. When he confronted him about the calling, Nate had his doubts. After many attempts to persuade him that he was a pastor, Nate went before the Lord, fell on his knees and asked God to confirm the call. When he got off his knees he boldly declared, "Ten thousand men can't stop me from obeying what God has called me to do". Several months later, he started a bible study at the Serviceman's Center, then a daily bible study at 13th Support Command Chapel on Fort Hood. From there, the Christian House Of Prayer was born on April 27, 1981 in Copperas Cove, TX.
With an original membership of thirteen people, he started The Christian House of Prayer Ministries, which is now one of the largest ministries in the Central Texas area. His well-rounded ministry was balanced in the knowledge of God's Word.
Many pastors and ministers in the United States and abroad adopted Pastor Nathaniel Holcomb as their Bishop. As a result, Covenant Connections International (CCI) was formed, an organization based on relationship. CCI was based on the relationship that each individual minister had with their mighty man of God.
He had the leadership of Moses.
He had the spirit of David because he had a heart after God.
He had the wisdom of Solomon.
He had the strength of Samson.
He walked in the double portion of the anointing like Elijah.
But most of all, he lived and taught that "It's All About Him-Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord".
