Funeral service for Ms. Tonya Maria Thompson, 63 of Killeen, TX will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
Tonya Maria Thompson, 63, died unexpectedly. She was born October 20, 1958, in Corinth, Mississippi, the daughter of James A. And Mae Frances (McNeal) Patterson.
Tonya graduated from Milan High School, class of 1976. During that time, she also attended Saline High School, Culinary Arts Program in her Senior Year. Following graduation, she married Jerry Lathan to which a beautiful daughter, Richelle, was born. She migrated to Louisville, KY to where she met Sgt. James Thompson whom she married. This union produced two wonderful children, James Jr. (Lil James) and Ticara Thompson.
Before settling in Killeen, TX, Tonya traveled extensively in the US and abroad. She studied at Central Texas College.
She worked at Aafes, USA for several years in different locations Private Home Health Care, and lastly for Austin Department of Commerce Election Commission.
Tonya loved family gatherings and often hosted many delicious banquets for family and friends. The family always looked forward to her and Lil James' Annual Christmas Eve Dinner and Gift Give-Away to every family member.
Tonya joined the Spiritual Israel Church & Its Army, Milan, MI. and was called to the Ministry right before moving to Killeen. While in Killeen, she attended Faith Christian Center where Rev. John A. Johnson is the Pastor. Her love for the Lord was evident by the kindness she displayed to others. Tonya was known for her sunny disposition, outgoing personality, stylish dressing, and living life to the fullest.
She was predeceased by her mother, Mae Frances Patterson.
Surviving is her father, James Alexander Patterson, Sr. of Ann Arbor, MI; her sister, Carolyn (Gil) Hannon of Killeen, TX; brothers, James (Yolanda) Patterson, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI, and Anthony L. Patterson of Monroe, MI; her son, James Jr.; daughters, Richelle (Lloyd) Antoine, and Ticara all from Killeen, TX; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Semika (Jada and Jamel and one on the way), Trachelle (Chanelle), Tomekico and Lloyd III all of Killeen, TX; nieces, Angela, Lawanda, Trinity, Angel, Kimberly, Betsey, Jamie, and Renita; nephews, Emmanuel, Jeremy, Quann, Trevor, Anthony, and Lamar; special friends, Ricky (Companion), Debra, Edna, Stephanie, Gloria, and Ida; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tonya will be missed by all who know and loved her.
