Obituary

Funeral service for Mr. Thomas Charles Ley, 78 of Killeen, TX will be held  Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 (5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to : Tunnel to Towers at T2T.com, or to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Thomas Ley's name.

Thomas Charles Ley, 78 years old, went to be with his Lord on September 8, 2024. Tom was born January 20, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois.

Thomas is survived by his daughter Tammy (Greg) White of Tomball, Texas, and two granddaughters, Kaylee White of Gonzales, Texas, and Marlee (Ryan) Stephenson of Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Maryann Ley of Kingsville, Texas, and his loving companion, Barbara Broussard Ley.

Tom initially served his country as an aircraft mechanic with the U. S. Navy on the USS Saratoga from 1967 to 1971.  He subsequently obtained a bachelor's degree in general engineering from Texas A&I University in 1973.  He excelled as the manager of engineering for 30 years with CenterPoint Energy.  Following this, Tom found further success as the founder of Ley Engineering.

Tom was fortunate to have a large family who loved him very much. Left to cherish his memory: brother Rick (Alexis) Ley of Kingsville, Texas, and nephew Daniel (Colleen) Ley of Riviera, Texas, and niece Jessica Ley of Los Angeles, California; brother Pat (Shelley) Ley of Kingsville, Texas, and nieces Trisha Ley of Riviera, Texas, Kelsey (Jeff) McNalley of Corpus Christi, Texas, and nephew Robert Ley (deceased); brother Chris (Shirley) Ley of Killeen, Texas, and nephews Dustin (Stephanie) Ley of Kingsville, Texas, Austin (Shannon) Ley of Killeen, Texas; Jeremy (Janee) MacDonald of Pleasanton, Texas, and niece Wendi (Bobby) Burroughs of Killeen, Texas; sister Cathy (Ron) Mennen of Bulverde, Texas, and nephew Shawn Bartow (Elizabeth) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and nephew Dylan (Jadah) Bartow of Sioux Falls, and niece Taylor Bartow of London, England, nephew Brian Bartow (Jennifer) of Fischer, Texas, and nieces Bailey Bartow and Paige Bartow, and nephew Tanner Bartow of Fischer, Texas, and niece Ashley Ryan (deceased); sister Dianna (Ken) Mazurek of Bandera, Texas, nephews Mike Mazurek of Whitewater, Colorado, Matt Mazurek of Sequin, Texas, Patrick (Sharon) Mazurek of San Antonio, Texas, and Kenneth (Alyson) of Niceville, Florida; sister Becki (Mark) Burgard of San Antonio, Texas, and nephews Ryan Burgard and Timothy Burgard of San Antonio, Texas; stepchildren, Elizabeth (Kevin) Hayslip, Roxanne (Donny) Kelley, Rachel (Albert) Cooper, Roy de la Rosa; and numerous step-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
