Graveside service for Mrs. Susie Griffin, 75 of Killeen, TX will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, 3:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.
Susie "Winn" Griffin, 75, of Del Valle, TX, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, after complications with health.
Susie was born on January 29, 1946, to Booker T. Winn and Essie Mae "Reed" Winn in the bustling city of Del Valle, TX. After Susie obtained her GED, she pursued an associate degree at Austin Community College.
After graduation, she worked as a Rehabilitation Teacher at Texas School for The Blind for 15 years until she moved to Killeen where she worked as a Kindergarten teacher for KISD for 17 years until she retired. Susie was passionate about being a teacher and loved what she did for a living.
In September 1965, she married Walter Brown in Austin, TX. Susie & Walter went on to have 2 kids, Andrea D. Brown, and Walter E. Brown. After the marriage ended, she went on to have two additional children, Ronald E. Brown, and Nicole M. Arnold. On 15 June 1995, Susie married Charles E. Griffin. Susie & Charles would spend their lives together until his passing in 2008.
Susie loved listening to music and had a vast catalog of musical knowledge to share. You could play a portion of almost any song, and she could quickly tell you the name of the song and artist performing it. She often shared stories of her traveling and spending time backstage with her brother's band where she met many well-known musical artists. She was beloved by her family, and she loved and was proud of every one of them.
Susie was predeceased by her father and mother Booker T. Winn and Essie Mae Winn, six brothers Booker "BT" Winn, Abraham "AB" Winn, Tambridge Winn, Lee Winn, George Winn, Melvin "Cheez" Winn, two sisters Bessie Winn, Jessie Winn, her son Walter E. Brown, and her beloved grandson Roy Lee Brown. She is survived. by children Andrea (Jorge), Ronald (Erica), Nicole (Vernon), sister Laurine Hicks, two brothers Willie Winn, Larry Winn, and an entire line of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
