Funeral service for Ms. Sue Purnell, 78 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Killeen City Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.
Ms. Purnell passed away September 9, 2021 in Killeen, TX.
Sue Wells Purnell was born December 11, 1942, in McCormick, South Carolina to the late Martin Wells and Louise Princess Wells. She was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
Sue Purnell was raised in Christian home where she was taught the Bible by her parents, instilling good Christian values. She received her early education at Holy Springs Church School in McCormick, South Carolina. Later, her family moved to Scotch Plains, New Jersey where she attended Scotch Plains High School, and was part of the Graduating class of 1961.
Sue Purnell met and married Edward Purnell, Sr and from this union they were blessed with two children Jacqueline and Edward Purnell, Jr.
She worked for the Nabisco Cookie Factory and for many years at Mattel Toy Factor. She moved from factory work to Ingmont Corporation as a Key Punch Operator until retirement. Sue loved to travel and go on trips by vehicle and cruises. She loved to cook, sew, knit, and crochet. She also
loved to go to the zoo, amusement parks, and the beach.
Sue Purnell relocated to Killeen, Texas 2004. She was a member of Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.A. Moland, singing in the choir. She was a member of the Bob Gilmore Senior Center, where she learned to Square Dance. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society that visits nursing homes in the city.
A time to Transition: A time to be born and a time to die. On Thursday, September 9, 2021 God called Sue Purnell home. She was preceded in death by three Brothers: Thomas M. Wells, James Wells and Robert O. Wells.
Sue Purnell leaves to cherish very fond memories: daughter Jacqueline Purnell of Covington, Georgia and son Edward Purnell, Jr (Carolyn D. Purnell) of Killeen, Texas; one brother John Wells, Sr. of Plainfield, NJ; one grandson Jerreak L. Purnell of Grasonville, MD; one great aunt Fannie Ruth Hardy of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Wells (Plainfield, NJ) and Addie Wells (Pinellas Park, Florida); a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
