Funeral service for Ms. Sharon Kathleen Richardson, 71 of Killeen, TX will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.

Ms. Richardson passed away July 22, 2025, in Killeen, TX. She was born May 8, 1954, in Los Angeles, CA.

We gather today to celebrate the beautiful, multifaceted life of Sharon Kathleen Richardson. Born during a time of segregation and adopted under complex circumstances, she was chosen by her adoptive father, Edward Dyson, and grew up under the care of Edward and her stepmother, Ruth. From an early age, she learned the power of forgiveness and grace.

A woman of resilience and deep Christian faith, she raised five children and faced life's hardships head-on, always finding ways to add sweetness to the struggle. In the early 1980s, she moved her family from Los Angeles to Killeen, Texas, seeking a better life.

Church became the heartbeat of her days. In her early years she was a member of Killeen First Assembly of God. Then God allowed her to become a member of Christian House of Prayer where she impacted many lives. Then her ministry led her to Anderson Chapel AME Church for over two decades, where she served in various capacities. She served faithfully at each respective church as prayer warrior, deaconess, church secretary, bus driver, Sunday School teacher, choir member, praise leader, nursing home minister, and grief minister. In her final years she stepped away from church to focus on her family. She often said, "Family is your first ministry."

She filled our lives with memorable moments—driving the old white Pinto, making a "needs-based Christmas" tree from nails and string, cheering us on at games, and baking her famous German chocolate cake.

Life tested her with two house fires, divorce, and family challenges, yet she met every trial with faith, forgiveness, and the courage to begin again. She found joy in simple pleasures—painting, coloring, creating wall art, playing games, enjoying seafood, and loving her pets.

In 2020, a gift from her daughter Joy—an Ancestry DNA kit—led her to her biological sister, also named Sharon, who became one of her closest friends in her final years. Even in hardship, she saw God's hand, often ending her struggles with, "But GOD."

Mom always said, "God is near the brokenhearted." A lifetime of her love will never go in the ground.

She leaves behind her five children Edward Watson (Tamara), Jasmine Smith (Ernest), Webb  Buckner, Joy Cormier, Johnathan Buckner; sixteen grandchildren, Elijah, Jamel, Emonnie, Saniyah, Devon, Deshon, Ariah, Coby, Malik, Brie, Miles, Tatyanna, Maya, Aliyah, Makala, Jaden, Nevaeh, Teairra, Bryan, Collette, Enrico and Elena; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Cureton; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

To the original Queen of our lives—may you rest in peace and live forever in our hearts.
