Funeral service for Mr. Robert James Johnson, 68 of Killeen, TX will be held Monday, December 16, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Manna Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with military honors will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mr. Robert James Johnson, a remarkable man who lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication. Born to the late Robbie Jean and Clarence Johnson II on September 12, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, Robert was a beacon of kindness, humor, and strength. Mr. Johnson passed away December 9, 2024, in Temple, TX.

Growing up in a lively household of eight siblings, Robert's early years were filled with laughter, camaraderie, and adventure. He attended public schools in Los Angeles, graduating from George Washington High School, and later pursued higher education at Los Angeles Trade-Tech College and Southwest College. In 2007, his passion for creativity and design led him to earn a degree in Graphic Illustration from Texas State Technical College.

Robert's career journey was as diverse as his talents. He began as a skilled carpentry contractor, building homes and leaving a tangible legacy of craftsmanship. However, his proudest achievement outside of his cherished role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather was his dedicated service in the United States Army. From 1985 to 2000, Robert excelled in Field Artillery and as an Air Traffic Controller, earning the respect of his peers and embodying the values of honor and discipline.

After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Robert pursued his artistic passion, working as a Graphic Designer with MWR Graphics until his retirement in February 2024.

Robert was a man of many gifts—known for his humor, his gentle spirit, and his incredible ability to create with his hands. Whether coaching his sons in high school basketball, delighting in the company of his beloved grandsons, Caleb, Juda, and Koa, or cheering on his favorite teams, the Raiders and the Lakers, Robert's life was filled with joy and connection. A lifelong sports enthusiast and gifted athlete, Robert excelled in baseball and loved all sports. In a testament to his skill and charm, he was often chosen to play quarterback for both teams during friendly football games—an amusing and fitting acknowledgment of his talents!

Robert's faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of his life. Having rededicated his life to Christ in 1992, he was baptized alongside his wife Sabine in 1995. As a devoted member of Christian House of Prayer, he served in various ministries, including as a Porter of Parking and in the Photography and Video Ministries. His spiritual growth continued with his graduation from the Sonship School of the Firstborn in 2013 and the Speak The Word School of Ministry in 2002.

Robert's journey of love included three unions. He was first married to Sheryl Smith, with whom he had one son, Ronald Dupree, and was blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He had a loving relationship with Norma Jean Andry, with whom he shared the joy of raising one daughter, Brandi T. Johnson.

On April 22, 1989, Robert found his life partner in Sabine Rohlmann, his loving wife from Schermbeck, Germany. Together, they built a beautiful life in Texas and were blessed with four children: David R. Johnson (wife, Christina), Patric R. Johnson, Alexandra V. Johnson, and Daniel P. Johnson, as well as three grandchildren.
