Funeral service for Retired Major Woodrow Sanders, 67 of Copperas Cove, TX will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, TX. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Inurnment with Full Military Honors will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Major Woodrow Sanders, a decorated veteran and devoted family man, who departed this life on April 19, 2025, at the age of 67. A proud resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, Major Sanders was born on July 11, 1957, in Forsyth, Georgia.

Major Sanders answered the call to serve his country with honor and distinction. His military journey spanned decades and included honorable service in both the United States Army and the National Guard. Even after hanging up his uniform, he continued his dedication to the mission, serving his nation as a GS-13 at TACOM LAR, where he applied his experience and leadership to supporting our armed forces.

Beyond his many accomplishments in service, Major Sanders was a cornerstone of his family. He shared more than 30 years of steadfast love and partnership with his beloved wife, Cindy Sanders. Together, they raised a strong and compassionate family, including their children Chivas Kimber, Darrion Sanders, Timothy Sanders (adopted nephew), and Olivia Sanders.

Major Sanders was a man of loyalty and deep connection. He valued and nurtured the relationships in his life, holding dear the bonds of brotherhood and friendship. Among those closest to him were Don Price, who visited without fail each week, and Deacon Hickman, his lifelong friend and confidant.

To carry him to his final rest are pallbearers: Chivas Kimber, Darrion Sanders, Timothy Sanders, DeMonte Harden, Devonte Harden, and Abdul Mohammad—each representing a life touched by his strength, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Major Woodrow Sanders will be remembered not only for his military service but also for his immense heart, keen intellect, and enduring legacy. We have lost an exquisite mind, a leader, and a man whose presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him
