Obituary

Funeral service for Retired SFC Willie Dennis, Jr., 70 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Harker Heights, TX. Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 (5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

On February 22, 2021, Willie Dennis Jr., age 70, was called home after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Willie Dennis Jr. was born on June 3, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1970, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Among his many service medals are:

Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge W/ Palm, and Armed Forces Medal (Korea).

While deployed in South Korea in 1973, he met and married his wife, Bok Ye Dennis on February 14, 1975. Together, they have one biological daughter and one adopted son.

He then later re-enlisted in 1977 and retired as SFC Dennis in 1994 giving him more than 20 years that he has dedicated to his country.

But he didn't stop there. After his retirement, he gained employment at TDCJ as a Correctional Officer in 1995 and worked for another 10 years and retired in 2005. During his time at TDCJ, he was also able to accomplish getting an Associates in General Studies from Central Texas College.

With so much love and generosity in his heart, he took in his wife's nephew, Willie Dennis III and raised him as his own son.

Mr. Dennis joined Cornerstone Baptist Church in 1998 and became an active member with his church and serving God as an Usher.

Left to cherish his memory are his Wife, Bok Ye Dennis of Killeen, TX; Daughter, Sheila M. Dennis of Austin, TX. and Son, Willie Dennis III of Killeen, TX.; his three siblings, Brothers Evans Dennis and Charles Dennis of New Orleans, Louisiana and his Sister, JoAnn Pryor of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Willie is preceded in death by his Father, Willie Dennis Sr., Mother, Virginia White, Brother Donald Dennis, Paul Watkins, and Sister, Joyce Watkins.
