Graveside service with full military honors for Retired SFC William Eugene "Gene" Davis, 75 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022, 9:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Davis passed away July 28, 2022, in Killeen, TX.

William Eugene Davis aka "Gene" was born October 25, 1946, in Rome, GA to parents Mary Jo Silvey and William Edgar Davis.  He was raised in Hapeville, GA. He graduated from Hapeville High School in 1966.

Gene enlisted in the United States Army and served his county proudly for 24 years. He served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm/Desert Shield Wars. He received an honorable discharge in 1993. His awards, medals and ribbons include: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Service Star, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 2, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Expert Badge Rifle, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm, National Defense Service Medal w/ Service Star, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

After his military career Gene worked for IBM in Austin, TX for seven years. He then worked on Fort Hood as a Security Gate Guard for 3 years.

Left to cherish his memories: wife, Elsie Renee Davis of Killeen, TX; daughter, Andrea M. Davis (Herbert Glover) of Killeen, TX; brother, Michael; sisters, Theresa, Rosana, Tina, Carla, and Tonya; son-in-law, Jesse Yatckoske; grandchildren, Michael Yatckoske, Jonathan Yatckoske of Port Washington, WI, and Crystal Powell (Christopher) of Killeen, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Edgar Davis and Mary Jo Potts, daughter Sabrena D. Yatckoske, sisters Diane and Angela.
