Graveside service with military honors for Retired SFC Walter Pollard, Jr., 86 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Monday, March 22, 2021, 3:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Pollard passed away March 8, 2021 in Waco, TX.

SFC Walter Pollard Jr., USA, (Retired) was born on March 12, 1934 in Notasulga, AL, to Walter Pollard Sr. and Lever Pollard.

He graduated from high school and joined the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service.  He served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea.  His military decorations, medals, and badges include: The Korean Service Medal w/one Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (5 ^th Award), Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Star & 3 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, and the Army Commendation Medal (2d Oak Leaf Cluster).

After his military career he became a Postman with the United States Postal Service in Orlando, FL and retired after 20 years of service. He relocated to Harker Heights, TX in 2013 and married Karen Carter-Pollard on June 6, 2016. Together they shared many wonderful memories.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Karen Carter-Pollard of Harker Heights, TX; daughter, Valencia Pollard-Fortson and son-in-law, Willie Fortson Sr. of Harker Heights, TX; son, Walter Pollard III of Orlando, FL; son, Alfred Pollard of the Philippines; stepdaughter, Tabetha Douthitt; stepson, Darrien Tabor; grandchildren, Victoria Jones, Rickey Jones II, Stephanie Pollard, Tammy Roundtree, Tonya Toler; step grandchildren, Caleb, Tyonna, and Zander; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by both parents Walter and Lever Pollard. Along with his. two sisters Mary Pollard and Lorraine Miller.
