Funeral service for Retired SGM Travis Levone Williams, 86 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, 12:00 p.m. at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX.

Travis Levone Williams was born in Troy, Texas to Andrew and Eva (Clark) Williams on 10, December 1938 and died on 5, June 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was one of twelve children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Andrew Williams, Sr. and Eva (Clark) Williams; five brothers, Irving Williams, Ernest Williams, Lee Andrew (Sonny) Williams Jr., Oscar Ray Williams, and Wilbert (Billy) Williams; six sisters, one died in infancy, Jamie Coleman, Adele Trimble, Clara Byars, Juanita Smith and Mary L. Armstrong, and great grandson Robert A. Polk, Jr.

Mr. Williams graduated from Dunbar High School, Temple, Texas in 1956; and later studied logistics, Business Administration, at La Roche College, Pennsylvania earning an Associate Degree in Maintenance. Travis entered the United States Army in 1956 and retired from the military at Fort Hood, Texas as Sergeant Major in 1986.

During his military service he spent overseas tours in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, and stateside tours in Alabama, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. His military medals and awards include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct (with Silver, five loops), National Defense Service, Vietnam Service (with one Silver Service Star) NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation (with palm), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Expert Marksmanship Badge (Rifle).

While stationed in Germany, Travis met and married his wife of 64 years, Ilse Irma Schmitt on 2, June 1961. In 1986, Mr. Williams began working as a contractor for Lockheed Martin/Dyncorp at Fort Hood, until his retirement in 2010.

Mr. Williams has three daughters: Rosita T. Dockery (husband Archie deceased), Angela R. Parkhill (husband Craig), and Regina C. Khim (husband Mychael); four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Williams belonged to the Greater Vision Community Church, was a member of their board of trustees, and the Men's Choir Ministry. He oversaw the stained-glass window construction and was involved in the church's renovations, as well as numerous other projects.
