Funeral services for Retired SFC Thomas Ray Mitchell 68, of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (10:0.0 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.
Mr. Mitchell passed away July 11, 2025, in Harker Heights, TX. He was born July 9, 1957, in Bronx, NY.

Our distinguished Hero, Retired SFC Thomas (Tom) Mitchell, hails from Bronx, NY, where he was born and raised by his late father, James Clinton Mitchell, and mother, Antonia Torres Irizzary. He has three siblings: Normita Mitchell, James Mitchell (Bobbi Mitchell), and Walter Mitchell (Monica Mitchell) whom he loved and cherished.
Our Hero demonstrated remarkable devotion to the Army Reserve from 1975-1981 and the US Army from 1981-2007, ultimately retiring with honors in 2007. His distinguished service includes Operation Iraqi Freedom, the War in Afghanistan, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Thomas attained his associate degree in business and Microsoft system administrator at CTC. In 2011, Thomas established his business, TRM Lawn service, and his enthusiasm for his work positively impacted many lives. Thomas enjoyed his favorite past time Fishing and family gatherings.
Sadly, our Hero was suddenly called home by his Heavenly Father, leaving behind his devoted wife of 33 beautiful years, Shawn T. Mitchell. Thomas was blessed with seven beautiful children: Thomas David, Tyesha Grace, Jasmen S., Jamon Sanandez, Jakeem Hassan, MasterThomas Ray, and Linlani Rayne, preceded in his death our Angel, Ahiah Divine Mitchell (listed from oldest to youngest).
Thomas was gifted with 14 beautiful grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy. God also blessed Tom with loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including Jonnie Bryant (LeNorris), Stacey Lockhart (Rodney), Traci Holloman Dawsey (Joseph) Rosalind Tookes, Jarrod Crumbley with whom he had a strong, loving bond.
Thomas was a humble, God-fearing man who cherished his children, family, spiritual children, and friendships, and will be deeply missed. His captivating smile and life's work will continue to inspire others.
Tom exemplified humility, faith, and love, demonstrating profound affection for his children, family, and spiritual children. His friendships were deeply valued.
The warmth of his smile will be deeply missed by many, and his life's endeavors serve as a lasting tribute to his legacy.
