Funeral service for Retired SFC Teresa C. Crooms 57 of Harker Heights, TX will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021, 12:00 noon at River's Of Living Waters Church  in Killeen, Texas. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas.

Mrs. Crooms passed away March 20, 2021 in Temple, Texas.

Born December 4, 1963 in Humboldt, Tennessee to Charlotte Austin and Jesse J. Champion. She was educated in the public schools of Trenton Special School District and graduated in 1982 from Peabody High School, Trenton, TN.

On August 11, 1983, she married the love of her life, Harry Crooms. To their union, 2 sons were born: Marquis and Jalen.

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was baptized at a young age. She previously served at Greater Vision Community Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Praise & Worship Team Member; Choir President, Choir Vice President and a member of the Women of Vision ministry and the Women's Choir. She was also a member of the Top Ladies of Distinction community organization.

She was a current member of the Christian House of Prayer, Killeen, TX since 2012, where she served as a member of the Counseling Ministry and Rhema Choir. She was a graduate of the Sonship School of the Firstborn ministry school in 2014.

Teresa enlisted in the US Army May 27, 1982. She faithfully served 20 years of active duty, retiring September 2002 at the rank of SFC/E7. During her service, she completed a number of military schools and served at various Army posts in the U.S. as well as overseas. She was a Personnel Records Specialist. She received the following awards: Army Lapel Button; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal (7th); Army Achievement Medal (6th); Army Good Conduct Medal (7th); National Defense Service Medal (2nd); Non-commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon With Numeral 3; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd); and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge With Rifle Bar. After retirement, Teresa was employed as the Chief of the Reassignment Branch, Ft. Hood, Texas  from November 2003-September 2016, before retiring. During this time, she also received her Bachelor of Administration in Human Resources Degree from Tarleton State University, Killeen, TX.

Left to cherish her memories is her loving and devoted husband, Harry and their two devoted sons: Marquis (Jeralicia), Killeen, TX and Jalen, Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan; one grandson: Jaxson Crooms, Killeen, TX; her mother, Mrs. Charlotte Austin, Humboldt, TN; Siblings: Sylvia (John) Slaven, Lincoln, NE; Damita Sherron, Humboldt, TN; Jesse Lee Champion, Humboldt, TN; Doris Mays, Humboldt, TN; Helen Champion, Humboldt, TN; Wanda (Bishop Larry) Jackson; Trenton, TN; Tracy Mosley, Jackson, TN; Rondell (Stephanie) Champion, Columbus, OH; LaQueca (Antonio) McCurry, Jackson, TN; Marcus Champion, Humboldt, TN; Brian Champion, Humboldt, TN; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Jesse J. Champion.
