Memorial service for Retired MSGT Roosevelt Pugh, 72 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Mr. Pugh passed away May 16, 2021 in Fort Hood, TX.

Roosevelt "Rosey" Pugh was born on January 9, 1949, in Eudora, Arkansas. He was the ninth of eleven children born to Tom and Elizabeth Pugh. The family moved to Kilbourne, Louisiana where he attended Combs McIntyre High School until 1966 when the family moved to Houston, Texas. Roosevelt graduated from Jack Yates Senior High School in 1969. He entered the U.S. Army in September 1969 and completed Basic Training at Fort Bliss, Texas. After completing Basic training Roosevelt received Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington and served in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Roosevelt entered the U.S. Air Force in August 1972. After completing Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas he was assigned to Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas as a Fuels Apprentice. On February 1, 1993, Roosevelt retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of active service. Following his retirement, he worked as a Contract Manager for the U.S. Navy at Joint Base Andrews in Camp Springs, Maryland for 20 years before relocating to Killeen, Texas in 2012.

Roosevelt was Trustee President for Adams Chapel AME Church in Harker Heights, Texas. He was a dynamic, charismatic leader and faithful servant to the Lord. His continual efforts to maintain and improve the overall quality of the God's Building was a true blessing to the members of Adams Chapel AME Church. His dedication to serve was an example to others while his obedience never wavered. Roosevelt's tireless efforts as Trustee President and Chaplain of the Sons of Allen Men's Auxiliary over the years truly demonstrated his love for Jesus and his family at Adams Chapel AME Church. He will be forever remembered and cherished as a true Servant of God.

Roosevelt served as Treasurer for the Local Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Waldorf, Maryland for over four years prior to relocating to Texas. He then served as Quartermaster for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1820 in Temple, Texas.

His military awards and decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air force Outstanding Unit Award, Vietnam Service Medal with three service stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, U.S. Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education Ribbon with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster-short, Air Force Overseas Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster-long, Air Force Training Ribbon. Roosevelt was also awarded the Master Supply/Fuels Badge and U.S. Army Combat Infantry Badge.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Will, Ruben, Howard, and Robert; and two sisters:  Rosie Lee and Linda Faye.

Roosevelt was a loving Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Brenda; his children from his first marriage: Kimberly Braxton of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Ricky Pugh of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shemika (Jeremiah) Spencer and Kristofer Pugh of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves to celebrate his legacy his eleven brilliant and beautiful grandchildren: Jamar Alexander Andrews, Daylin Lindley, Kendra Alannah Pugh, Zoe Lorene Spencer, Kristofer Roshawn Pugh II, Kristina Denise Pugh, Brianna Lindley, Baylee Lindley, Lauren Melodee Lindley, Joshua Olorun Robinson Lindley, and Samasoni Stafan Pugh. Also left to reflect on precious memories are his siblings: Genever Keys of Bastrop, Louisiana, Jerry (Teresa) Pugh of Atlanta, Georgia, and Audrey (Rubin) Eugene and Carrie (Leonard) Fisher of Houston, Texas along with his host of nieces, nephews, cousins, associates, and many friends.
