Funeral services for Retired SFC Robert Nathaniel Higgins 59, of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the church.

Graveside inurnment with full military honors will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Robert Higgins, 59, of Killeen, TX, was called home April 28, 2024. He was born in Providence, R.I. on July 31, 1964, to Lydia Mae Higgins and Richard Hyman. He passed away April 28, 2024, in Killeen, TX.  Robert was the first person in his family to receive his master's degree from Tarleton State University in Business.

He led a rich and fulfilling career serving in the United States Army. During his 22 years of service he received: The Meritorious Service Medal, 5 Army Commendation Medals, 6 Army Achievement Medals, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, 5 Army Good Conduct Medals, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars (BSS), Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Ribbons, Kuwait Liberation Ribbon (K.SA), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Pistol, Small Bore Bar, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver W Bar. Even after his honorable discharge in 2005 he continued to serve veterans.

Above all the accolades Robert's greatest accomplishment, as well as his pride and joy, is his family. Robert loved and lived for his family. He also loved to play golf. Whenever he had the time, he would grab his clubs and head to the driving range to hit some balls. He loved golfing almost as much as he loved dancing. No matter where he was if a song came on, he was hitting his moves and shuffling those feet. Robert was a man who lived his life by his own rules and did it to the fullest every day.

Robert leaves behind his siblings: Hilton Sr., Randy, Annabelle, Kenneth, Lori, Brian, and Leatrice Higgins. Robert is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Carlette Wyche Higgins; and his legacy continues through his daughters, Natasha Williams and De'ja Higgins; as well as his four grandchildren, Quentin, Ja'ron, Levi, and Lyric.
