Funeral service for Retired SSG Robert Lee Davis Sr. 82 of Killeen, TX will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Chapel AME Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.

Robert Lee Davis was born March 22, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Mark and Sarah Davis.  He transitioned from this life on August 1, 2024.

Robert graduated from Booker T. Washington Highschool in Columbia, South Carolina and thereafter enlisted in the United States Army, serving a combat tour in Vietnam from 1967-1968. As a Transportation Non- Commissioned Officer, he was stationed at multiple military bases world-wide. He received numerous awards and decorations throughout his miliary career for honorable service, retiring in 1987 as a Staff Sergeant. Following his retirement from the military Robert Lee worked for the Bell County Sheriff's Department for 17 years before retiring.

Robert Lee loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Killeen, Texas. He proudly served as a Steward, and Altar Steward for many years. He mentored many young men in the care of the alter, demonstrating care and attention to detail which set him apart and set the standard for all to emulate.

Family was important to Robert Lee and he loved and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed having a fitness routine, walking several miles every morning. He loved doing lawn maintenance at his home and contributing to charitable events. He knew no strangers.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Ola Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Felicia (Allen) Davis and Sherry Davis, both of Columbia, South Carolina; sons, Robert Lee Davis, Jr., Columbia, South Carolina and Terrence Davis, Wisconsin; sisters Sarah (Ron) Boyd and Lorraine T. Meyers, both of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers Wallace (Charlotte) Davis and Michael (Jackie) Davis both of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Robert Lee will be truly missed.
