Visitation for Retired SSG Raymond Nathaniel Jacobs, 78 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private funeral service will be held Monday, February 1, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Cooke Brothers Funeral Home in Newport News, VA. **Masks are requited to attend**
Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.

Mr. Jacobs passed away January 15, 2021 in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Raymond Nathaniel Jacobs passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, January 15, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1942 in Danville, Virginia to the late Ellis and Marjorie Vincent Jacobs. Affectionately called "Jake", he was an avid music lover known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. Jake enjoyed entertaining and spending time with his family and friends.

Jake attended Huntington, High School where he was a proud Alumnus and Graduate of the Class of 1960 whom he supported throughout his lifetime at various ventures including their Annual Holiday Celebrations where he enjoyed reconnecting with classmates and lifelong friends. On October 21, 1963, Jake joined the United States Army leading to ultimately serving the Government for over 45 years during war and times of peace to include two tours in Vietnam, serving in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and a number of other capacities throughout his tenure. Jake's commitment, hard work, dedication, attention to detail, and abilities to consistently exceed expectations in all responsibilities brought before him earned him many acknowledgements to include the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Commander's Award for Civilian Services and many other accolades while serving as a Soldier and later a Civilian Employee of the United States Government.

Jake was preceded in death by his brother Walter Jacobs.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Jacobs (Trina) of Austin, Texas; two stepchildren, Samuel Linzy of Dallas, Texas and Sebrina Linzy of Newport News, Virginia; one sister, Ellistine Jacobs of Hampton, Virginia; three brothers, Ellis Jacobs (Ann) & Morris Jacobs both of Newport News, Virginia and Arthur Jacobs (Kathy) of Dover, Delaware; seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren & a host of family and friends.
