Direct burial with full military honors for Retired SSG Ramon Uriegas II, 75 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, 9:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
He was born June 3, 1948, in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Uriegas passed away August 4, 2023, in Harker Heights, TX.
Ramon went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 4th at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diana; son, Berin David (Melinda Machado), daughter, Alexia Nicole (Genesis Russell); grandchildren, Skylar, Ainsley (Samantha), Havana, Anthony, and Brandon. He is also survived by his three siblings Sylvia, Norma (Gary Skinner), and Sarah, plus a plethora of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Pablo and David and his parents Ramon, and Tomasa. He was born and raised in San Antonio, joined the Army soon after graduating from high school. He served in Vietnam, did 3 tours in Germany and 1 tour in Korea and ended up retiring from the military here in Fort Hood (Fort Cavazos) and elected to reside here in the area.
After retiring he worked in an array of different fields to include sales, carpentry, education, and computer technology. All while continuing his passion for music which began with a trumpet and continued with rock and blues guitar. He was also a gun aficionado and collector. Most of his collection can be viewed at the Ramon Uriegas II Guitar and Small Arms Museum. (The museum is currently closed for renovations. Grand reopening is slated for late 2025).
His love of guitars and guns is only surpassed by his love for his family. Especially his grand children who affectionally refer to his as the "Best Buyer," and his love for Our Lord.
