A Memorial service for Retired First Lieutenant Omar Kahlil Wilson, 32, of Newport News, VA will be Saturday, July 23, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Miracle Temple, Newport News, VA. Burial with full military honors at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Mr. Wilson passed away July 2, 2022.
Omar Kahlil Wilson was born December 1, 1989, to Joseph Wilson Sr. and Leni Gray Wilson. Omar graduated from Newport News High School in Newport News; VA. He received his Aviation License from Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, VA in 2012. He also graduated from Hampton University with a BS in Aviation.
Omar joined the U.S. Army, in 2012 serving in the Field Artillery, He was awarded AFGHANISTAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL W/ 2 CAMPAIGN STARS; 2ND AWARD, ARMY ACHIVEMENT MEDAL, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM SERVICE MEDAL, KOREA DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, ARMY SERVICE RIBBON, OVERSEAS SERVICE RIBBON, AND NATO MEDAL. He served 4 years and completed his active duty. Omar was discharged with Honorable Service in 2017.
Omar enjoyed watching Anime' and trying different coffees and brews. He loved food especially spicy food! His favorite food was Thai. He loved flying, biking, and driving with the windows down to feel the cool breeze on his face. Omar loved riding his motorcycle with his club members DA MOB in Killeen, TX. He made sure all his family was well and kept in contact with them. The most enjoyable and memorable moments for the Family of Omar was seeing him spending time with his little princess his daughter Aroya Genesis Wilson. He was an Awesome Father. a provider, protector and giver. This Great Young Hero, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Great Friend will truly be missed!
Omar leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: his Mother Leni Gray Wilson, his Father Joseph Wilson, Sr. (Lena); his Daughter Aroya Genesis Wilson; Best Friend and Mother of Aroya, Brittnay Walker; Brothers: Ishmail Wilson, Joseph Wilson III, and Mario Pierce; Sister: Ruby Wilson; Nephew (William Wilson), Uncles, Aunts, and a host of cousins, and many devoted friends.
