Funeral service for Retired SSG Neace Canty, Jr., 83 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Chapel AME Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the church.

Mr. Canty passed away March 15, 2022, in Killeen, TX.

Neace Canty, Jr., was born in Mt. Vernon, Georgia on July 20, 1938, to Mr. Neace Canty, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth [Johnson] Canty.

Neace accepted Christ at an early age and was always a willing worker. He had an unfailing faith and commitment to God and his family.

Bro. Canty received his High School Diploma and then shortly after enlisted in the United States Army.

Bro. Canty's military career carried him first overseas to Germany. During his time of service, he earned a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze 4 Loops and an Expert (Rifle) Ribbon. Along with a tour of duty in Germany, he also toured Korea and was stationed at Fort Carson Colorado and Ft. Hood, Texas from where he retired.

After retiring from military service, Bro. Canty found civilian employment with Loomis Armored and worked for them for many years before retiring again.

Bro. Canty was a quiet spirit, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. As a committed member of Anderson Chapel for over 35 years, Bro. Canty proudly and honorably served as a Steward and was a proud "Kingsman". Over the years he was also a member of the Choir, Usher Board, and Men of Valor Men's Ministry, and served as a Trustee, and the church Sexton. It is said that Bro. Canty has, at one time or another served on every other ministry and or board in the church except preaching!

Bro. Canty met and was married to Pearley Mae Canty for fifty-two years until she preceded him in death.  He later met and was married to Thelma Louise Canty until his death.

Bro. Canty's father, two brothers, two sisters, two sons and one son-in-law preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rev. Dr. Thelma Canty; his daughters:    Barbara (Jermaine), Felicia, Moesha, Delores, and Regina (Greg); sons: Darrell (Kim), Whontrell (Shante) and Thurman, Sr. (Shirley); five brothers and five sisters; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with an entire host of other family and friends.
