Funeral service for Retired SSG Michael Alexander Allen, 73 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, TX. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the church.

Michael Alexander Allen was born on August 18, 1950, to James Shelton and Darnel Neal in St. Louis, MO. He passed away October 20, 2023, in Killeen, TX.Michael attended Henry Weathers High School in Rolling Fork, MS. After high school, Michael was drafted into the United States Army in June 1971. His Army educational history includes Solider Support Institute (Advanced Noncommissioned Officer), Administrative Special School, Parachutist School, Alcohol and Drug Abuse School, US Postal Operations School, and Radio Operator (Radio Teletype-Writer Operator). His educational history extends to Central Texas College Skill Center, where he was involved with Building Maintenance and Print Shop Trades from 1996-1997. His educational journey was completed upon graduating from the Sonship School of the Firstborn in 2011 at Christian House of Prayer.

Michael was honorably discharged from the United States Army in June 1991, where he then transitioned to working for the United States Postal Services from October 1994 to June 2009. He was a jack of all trades, which included United States Postal City Letter Carrier, CDL-license driver, Security Guard, stocked grocery shelves in stores, Administrative Specialist, Housing Inspector Supervisor, Computer Operator, Carpenter, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and radio Teletype-Write Operator.

Michael dedicated his life to his family and church. He joined Christian House of Prayer in December 1988, where he served as an usher, and as mentioned earlier, was a part of the Parabolé Drama Ministry. He enjoyed playing the characters as well as creating the stage props. Many other hobbies have included swimming, basketball, and boxing.

Michael is survived by: his mother, Darnel Neal; children, LaTonya Allen, Meghan Allen, Travis Hart, and Amber Hunter (Robert); sisters, Sandra Neal, Carol Neal, Talsie Neal, Alberta Shelton, Diane Simpson, Olive Franklin (Terry), Betty Johnson (Ray); brothers, Anthony Neal, Alvin Neal (Victoria), Russell Neal (Patricia), Robert Neal (Patricia); special niece, La'Tonja Burton (Edwin); great nieces, La'Cha-lyn and Ikia Oliver; great nephews, Ike Oliver IV and Ethan Burton; and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father James Shelton, his grandmother Ada Simmons, and sisters Diane Williams and Barbara Shelton.
