Funeral service for Retired TSgt Matthew Hardeman, Jr., 90 of Copperas Cove, TX will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022, 9:00 a.m. at Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, TX. Burial with Air Force Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Hardeman passed away April 6, 2022, in Copperas Cove, TX. Elder Hardeman received his final promotion April 6, 2022.

Matthew Hardeman Jr. was born to Matthew Hardeman Sr. and Corine (Davis) Hardeman on January 5, 1932, in San Antonio, Texas. He was saved in July of 1945. Elder Hardeman joined the United States Air Force on June 25, 1950 and served during the Korean War in Air Traffic Control.

He met Eunice Penn in 1955, while stationed in Virginia. They were married June 16, 1956. To this union were born five children, Sonia, Cherie, Mark, Micah, and Leah. Collectively their children have given them 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

After retiring from the Air Force in June of 1970, Elder Hardeman was employed with Battle Creek Michigan Public Schools, and RadioShack. He retired again in June of 1999 and they moved to Copperas Cove, TX to enjoy the warmth. There they joined Christian House of Prayer.

Matthew Hardeman Jr. was always known for his quick wit, storytelling ability, work ethic, and extending his love to all those he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Gwendolyn (Hardeman) Streeter and Michael Hardeman, son-in-law, Garcia Holmes I, son-in-law, Oliver Harris Sr., and granddaughter Tylithia Burks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eunice (Penn) Hardeman; his children Sonia Harris of Tennessee, Cherie Drew (Daryl) of Virginia, Mark Hardeman (Christina) of Oregon , Micah Hardeman (Antoinette) of Washington,  Leah Elmore of Texas, and his daughter in-love Joyce Hardeman of Florida;  grandchildren, Karima, Miiya, Jasmine, Garcia II, Oliver Jr., Andrea, Matthew, Sasha, Ciera, Tonesha, Tiffany, Paris, Jachdiel, Koinonia, Yaqar, Alexandra, and Nathaniel; his great-grandchildren, Anisha, Nautika, Kymastrie, Eshe-Atiya, Isaac, Mercedes, Anthony, Maciah, Desmond II, Elena-Cherie, Cassidy, Ca'Moya, Marcelle II, Carter, Cayiel, Molly Louise, Malakhi, Em'Rii, and Makayla; his great-great-grandchildren, and a whole host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and church family members.
