Funeral service for Retired SSG Lynn Hollingsworth Gross 80, of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Chapel AME Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the church.

Lynn Hollingsworth Gross was born on June 25, 1941, in Chattanooga Tennessee. He was the fifth child of five born to the late Henry and Henrietta Gross. Lynn accepted Christ early in life at Orchard Knob Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He fought the good fight and passed on February 26, 2022.

Lynn H. Gross married Pearlie M. Harris on July 12,1963 and were married for 58 years. Lynn always said he loved Pearlie at first sight, and he never let her out of his sight. Even until death he kissed and said he loved her. In this union they had two daughters whom he cherished. Family meant everything to him.

He graduated from Howard High School the Class of 1960 and was later drafted into the United States Army in 1963. After being stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, he pursued his degree from Central Texas college in 1974. He retired from the United States Army after 30 years. Lynn Hollingsworth Gross served his country and received many awards and decorations. Following his retirement from the military he worked for Civil Service as a Logistical Specialist (LS) for 30 years and retired a second time.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Henrietta Gross; brother and sister in-law, Henry and Wilhelmina Gross Jr.; sister, Emma Louise Gross Maldonado; brother and sister in-law, and Catherine Gross; sister, Ceola S. Mendez; and two great grandchildren, Mia Clark and Angel Robertson.

Lynn H. Gross leaves to cherish his memory: one loving wife, Pearlie H. Gross; two daughters, Perkina Gross Dickerson and Linda Brown; four grandchildren, Perkina Jarmon (Shawn), Shenelia Merritt (Kyle), Lexus Robertson (Paris) and Donald Dickerson II; six great- grandchildren, Jayden Jarmon, Jarius Jarmon, Julius Jarmon, Micaiah Merritt, Maelyn Robertson, and Jude Merritt; six nieces, Cheryl, Elaine, Cynthia, Tina, Tasha, and Renai; four nephews, Henry II, Michael, Glen, and Jeffrey; and a host of relatives, adopted children and friends.
