Obituary

Funeral service for Retired CSM Lloyd Coley 69 of Belton, TX will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Harker Heights, TX. Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (12:00 p.m. - 2:00p.m.) at the church.

Burial with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

(R)CSM Lloyd Coley passed away, peacefully, on August 28, 2023. Born June 19, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia, to William, Sr. and Laura Lee Coley.  Lloyd enlisted in the United States Army, July 1972, in which he proudly served for 30 years.  He achieved the highest enlisted rank of Command Sergeant Major.  He was the recipient of The Legion of Merit for his years of service to our country, in the United States Army.  His focus throughout life was to ALWAYS do what's right, because it was right.

Lloyd was an honorable man, a servant leader, a man of character and integrity, a source of strength, and a foundation in life and love.  He loved God, family, friends, and Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon - 2004 and unanimously voted Deacon Chairman - 2005.We can bravely face each new day, drawing strength from the moments and memories with him.  We are all better because we knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda, his daughter Ebonie (Nigel) Bain, son, Justin "Jay" (Kristy) Coley, and his two grandsons, Justin, Jr., and Jason.

He is survived by his brothers, William E. (Brenda) Coley, Jr., and Spencer (Patricia) Coley; his sisters, Sylvia Coley, Gwendolyn Coley, Sheila (Irvin) Green, and Lavette Branch; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Coley, Sr., mother, Laura Lee Coley, and sisters, Barbara Jane Bivens and Essie Mae Charles.

In lieu of flowers, the Coley family respectfully requests contributions in Mr. Lloyd Coley's memory be made to the Central Texas College Foundation- c/o Lloyd Coley Endowed Scholarship.  The Central Texas College Foundation is a separate non-profit organization which supports the mission of Central Texas College.  Financial contributions can be made online at:
