Graveside service with full military honors for Retired SSG Lemet C Madison 76, of Killeen, Texas will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Mr. Madison passed away August 14, 2021, in Austin, Texas. He was born February 20, 1945, in Bauxite, AR.

Lemet C. Madison was born February 20, 1945, In Bauxite, AR to parents Watson Madison, Sr. and Constance Alberta Pumphany. He was raised in Benton, AR and attended Ralph Bunch High School and was one of the first integrated classes.

Lemet was drafted into the United States Army while in high school and served in the Vietnam War. After he returned from the war, he enlisted in the United States Army and received his GED. He served his country proudly for 23 years and he received an honorable discharge in May of 1985. His awards, medals and ribbons include: The Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with Numeral 2), Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with Numeral 2), Sharpshooter (Rifle-M16A1, Vietnam Service Medal with V Device, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Expert Infantryman Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and the Army Achievement Medal.

After serving his country he still served his community by offering food and shelter to the homeless. Lemet was a kindhearted person with an awesome sense of humor who loved to make people laugh. He liked to make everyone feel welcome and was a stranger to no one. He was compassionate, selfless, and loyal to his family. He loved to play games, cards, and dominoes with his friends, he was a dominologist. Lemet was saved at a young age and had his own relationship with Christ. His favorite saying was "God keeps the scales balanced".

Left to cherish his memory: son, Orlando C. Madison of Benton, AR; daughters, Veronica Madison (Rickey) of Killeen, TX, and Lynette Pope (Joel) of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Orlando C. Madison, Jr., Quincey Phea, Kaya Pope, Na'Ilah Pope, Maurice Issac, Markel Isaac, and Marques Isaac

He was preceded in death by his parents Watson Madison, Sr., and Constance Alberta Madison, and daughter Lemeka Isaac.
