Funeral service for Retired MSGT Lawrence Eugene Moten Sr., 77 of Killeen, TX will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with Full Air Force Honors will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Lawrence E. Moten Sr., a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on October 11, 1947, in Austin, Texas, he was the son of Willie and Ola Marie Moten. Raised in a tight-knit family, Lawrence was instilled with a strong sense of community, responsibility, and love for other's values that shaped him throughout his life.

In 1966, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for over 24 years, including his time as a dedicated Vietnam veteran. His commitment to service and his dedication to his family were the cornerstones of his life.

After retiring from the military, Lawrence pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from Wilmington University in Dover, Delaware. His intellectual curiosity and determination were evident in every phase of his life.

Lawrence enjoyed a distinguished 52-year career with the Federal Government, marked by dedication and significant contributions to public service.

His presence could light up any room, and his warm smile offered comfort to all who knew him. Lawrence had a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel at home, and he was especially known for his mouthwatering, home-cooked barbecue meals. His signature ribs, which he lovingly prepared for family gatherings, will always be remembered as a symbol of his care and generosity.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mae; their children, Sheldon Moten, Zandria Moten-Romero, and Lawrence E. Moten Jr.; his grandchildren, Lawrence E. Moten III, Nautiqua Moten, Heaven Moten, and Elijah Moten- Romero; his siblings, Joe L. Moten, and Vera Brooks; and a host of relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Lawrence's legacy lives on through his family and friends who will forever remember him for his unwavering kindness, strong principles, and infectious spirit.
