Funeral service for Retired SSG Lattie Limual Evans, 62 of Killeen, TX will be held Monday, December 12, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior (12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Mr. Evans passed away November 29, 2022, in Temple, TX.

Lattie Limal Evans was born on July 5, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan to Hersey L. Evans, Sr. and Johnella (Ligon) Evans. Lattie was educated in the Detroit public school system until he decided to obtain his GED and high school diploma to complete school early. April 1979 Lattie entered the Army delayed entry program, then on August 14, 1979, he entered the United States Army and served on active duty as a Medical Supply Specialist for twenty years, seventeen days before retired with an Honorable discharge on August 31, 1999. During his time on active duty, Lattie served in the Gulf War in Southwest Asia from 1990 – 1991 and continued to serve in many other places throughout the world.

Lattie received many awards for his service to include: The Meritorious Service Medal upon retirement. Lattie returned to school and received a B.S. in Human Resources from Upper Iowa University.

After leaving the military, he worked as a Railroad worker in the state of Louisiana. He attended the H&R Block tax preparation school and did tax preparation work for many years. He also worked for the Corvias Military Living Agency as a Community Manager at the Fort Polk Louisiana military base, and finally he worked for the Allied security agency as security for a Reno Nevada courthouse.

Lattie was united in marriage to Gaby Anna Hildegard (from 1987 to 1991) to this union one son Jamie Evans was born. Lattie was also united in marriage to Lara Christian (from 1991-1997) to this union two daughters, Tianna J. and Mikayla A. Evans were born.

Lattie will be remembered as someone who loved God, loved his children, and loved his immediate and extended families. He liked to use social media to stay connected to his childhood friends. He had a passion for being physically fit and spent a lot of time working out in the gyms and body building. He enjoyed working as a Master Fitness Trainer for many years. Lattie liked to travel with his family and having a great time! He had a laugh that was infectious. Lattie was always striving to do what was right.

Lattie is preceded in death by his father and mother Mr. & Mrs. Hersey L. and Johnella (Ligon) Evans. Five half-brothers Hersey Jr., Isadore Sr. and Belton Evans; Clifton Sr. and Norris Cobb; one half sister Mary Elizabeth Lewis.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, five sisters, Olivia Holloway of New Jersey, Garnetta Rowe of Ohio, Marla Rowe and Roslyn Cobb of Michigan, Robin Evans Cobb Smith of Texas, and a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and one aunt.

Lattie you are greatly missed.
