Graveside service with full military honors for Retired SFC Kenneth Vernon Batie 59, of Killeen, Texas will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, 9:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.

Kenneth Vernon Batie, 59 passed away peacefully on the morning of September 13, 2021. We are comforted to know he is in heaven with Our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, free from pain and suffering.

Kenneth was born January 22, 1962, in Troy Alabama to parents Lillian Batie and the late George A. Batie. He is from a large family with three
sisters and three brothers. He graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 1980 and attended Enterprise Junior College.

He served in the Army Reserves in Troy, AL for 4 years and then enlisted in the United States Army in 1983. Kenneth served his country proudly and honorably for 26 years. His medals, awards and ribbons include: The Army Lapel Button, Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Star (BSS), Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (K), Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Driver and Mechanic Badge with Mechanic Bar, and the US Army Reserve Recruiter Badge.

Kenneth married his wife Angelia in 1992, they shared many loving memories together. He loved his family and he loved to BBQ. He was a die-hard Miami Dolphin and Alabama Fan. If you knew him, you knew he could give you a loud and hearty "Roll Tide"! He was convinced that Dan Marino was the best QB ever.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his father the late George A. Batie and his sister Tawanna Tolbert.

Ken leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Angelia Batie (Killeen, TX); mother, Lillian Batie (Dothan AL); three sons, Eurie Pless, Kenneth D. Batie and Jacoby Williams (all of Killeen TX); two sisters, Brenda Williams, and Fatima Batie; three brothers, Keith Batie, Vinson Batie and Chris Batie; two grandchildren, Troy Pless (whom he called "Big T"), Hayvin Pless; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
