Funeral service for Retired MSG Kenneth Louis Hyman, 72 of Copperas Cove, TX will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 (4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.) at Saunders Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NC. Burial will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Family Graveyard in Jacksonville, NC.
Mr. Hyman passed away April 10, 2021 in Copperas Cove, TX.
Kenneth Louis Hyman was born February 14, 1949 to parents Mary Hyman and Mack Harrison in Jacksonville, NC. He graduated from Georgetown High School in Jacksonville.
After graduation he enlisted in the United State Army and served his Country proudly for over 20 years. During his service he served in the Vietnam war. He retired in 1993 receiving an honorable discharge, his medals, awards and ribbons include: The Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Service Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 3, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge (Driver-W) Sharpshooter Badge Rife, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal First Class, and the National Defense Service Medal w/1 Service Star.
After his military career he was employed with Fort Hood Family Housing on Fort Hood, TX for over 20 years. Hobbies included playing bingo, going to the casino, but most of all spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Janice D. Hyman of Copperas Cove, TX; mother, Mary Williams of Jacksonville, NC; mother, Inez Brown of Lawton, OK; daughter, Chiqueta Howell (Otis) of Arlington, TX; sons, Geronki Hyman, Sr. (Tameka) of Atlanta, GA, and Omar Hyman, Sr. (Cheryl) of Mandeville, LA; brothers, Jerry Hyman (Maria) of Jacksonville, NC, and Roger Hyman (Lawanda) of Jacksonville, NC; sister, Evelyn Taylor (Ralph) of Jacksonville, NC, and Delores Stokes (Carlos) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Devon Edberson, Jayden Edberson, Geronki Hyman, Jr., Nicholous Hyman, OcTavion Hyman, Cedric Hyman, Omar Hyman, Jr., and Rodric Hyman; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
