Funeral service for Retired SFC Johnny Lee Milton, 69 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, 12:00 p.m. at  Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Johnny Lee Milton was born February 22, 1955, in Beaufort, S.C. to the late Paul Milton Sr. and Catherine Doyle Milton. On Sunday, December 29, 2024, God dispatched his angels to take him into his eternal rest.

Johnny attended school in Beaufort County and later enrolled in Breckenridge Job Corps Center in Kentucky. There he learned skills necessary to pursue his passion for building and assembling and worked for several mechanical assembling companies before enlisting in the National Guard. In developing his sense of duty, discipline, and hard work, Johnny combined his skills and passion by working as a Wheel Vehicle Repairer after enlisting into the U.S. Army in 1975.

Johnny, also affectionately referred to as "John", enjoyed his military travels, career, and accomplishments. He was stationed and served in Maryland (Aberdeen Proving Grounds), Texas (Fort Hood), Panama (Fort Clayton), and Germany (Grafenwoehr) throughout his twenty-year career. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and retired in 1995 before settling in Killeen, Texas.

Johnny lived out his retirement years as a minimalist who enjoyed living a simplistic life of leisure with family and friends. He was most passionate about his craft of repairing automobiles and helping others in this way gave him great joy. He did so until the decline of his health. He was an endearing father and held a special place of unconditional love in his heart for his children. He loved dearly his special friend of many years, Helen, as well as her son, Eric. Throughout the years, he established a mutual bond of love, trust, and respect with them. He was a very loyal brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. To know him was to love and appreciate his candor, sharp wit, humor, and compassion for a spirited debate. This is his legacy that will indelibly live on in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings; Willie Milton, Arthur Milton, Sarah Daise, and Abraham Milton, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories [three children] Josephine A. Milton and Jason A. Milton, Sr., both of Bloomington, IL, and Septima Roberts of Harvey, IL, [seven grandchildren]; [three great-grandchildren]; [three sisters] Mamie Milton Colleton of Sumter, SC, Pauline Milton (Dr. Charles) Holmes of Savannah, GA, and Janie Milton (Dcn. Alvin) Allen of Beaufort, SC; [one brother] Paul Milton, Sr. of Davenport, IA; [one sister in law] Louise Milton of Beaufort, SC; [one special nephew] Daron Milton of Honolulu, HI; [special friends] Helen and her son Eric of Killeen, TX, and [close friends] Arnott and Clara of Killeen, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
