Funeral service for Retired SSG John Alfred Arman Jr., 68 of Killeen, TX will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Arman passed away June 21, 2024, in Killeen, TX.

John Alfred Arman Jr., affectionately known as Daddy, was born on October 1, 1955, in Chicago, IL to John Alfred and Jacqueline Ann Arman. Along with his brother Jeffrey, he was raised in the Chicago area where he would begin to develop into the man, we all knew and loved. John was an avid wrestler and football player in high school, which set the stage for the next phase of his life.

At the age of 18, John enlisted in the United States Army where he would dutifully serve his country for 16 years. During his service, he served tours in Germany, Eastern Europe behind the Iron Curtain, and Texas. His final duty station would be Fort Hood, TX where he retired. While stationed at Fort Hood, John met and married his first wife, Phuc, with whom he started a family. He and Phuc welcomed their daughter Joeannie in 1986 who they raised along with his stepchildren Bruce and Mary. Upon retirement, John became a businessman, opening a nail shop in Killeen. After 15 loving years of marriage, Phuc tragically lost her battle with cancer, leaving John a widower.

Just when it seemed that he was fated to face the future alone, love was waiting on the horizon. In 2010, John met Giselle and took his second chance at love. After their marriage in May of 2011, John discovered he had a Panamanian soul. With his love for the food, music, and people of Panama, he co-hosted many get togethers, eventually leading to an addition to their home for entertaining. An avid chef and crafter, he graduated from Central Texas College with a degree in Culinary Arts. He also enjoyed knitting, sewing, painting, and Green Bay football.

John is survived by his wife of 13 years, Giselle Arman; daughter, Joeannie Arman Zarate (Juan); stepchildren from his first marriage, Bruce and Mary; stepchildren Whisha Young and George Liverpool; and brother, Jeffrey K. Arman (Tracy).

He is preceded in death by his first wife Phuc Thi Arman (nee Cao); father, John Alfred Arman, Sr.; mother, Jacqueline Ann Rogers; and grandparents Alfred John Arman Sr. and Elizabeth Arman (nee Micketchuck).
