MSG Jerome Herring was born in Minter Alabama, March 5, 1964, to Bernice and Porter Herring.

On April 24, 2026, our Lord and Savior sent angels to escort our precious Jerome to his heavenly home. It was a sudden, devastating departure for his loved ones.

Because of life circumstances, Jerome's birth mother was unable to take care of him. His aunt Mary Etta Andrews, stepped in and "adopted" the infant as her own, just as she had his two older brothers, Johnny Lee and Connell.

He spent the first 5 years of his life in Alabama, surrounded by a close-knit family of siblings and cousins.

In 1969, the family moved from Alabama to Wisconsin in search of better opportunities. Jerome entered the Racine Unified School system. Under the watchful eye of his mother, he flourished in school. In June 1982, he graduated from J. I. Case High School and entered the military the following August. He stayed for 23 years covering two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.  While in the Army he received the following awards and citations: Bronze Star//Meritorious Service Medal (4th

Badge.  After retiring, he returned to Iraq and did three more years on a government contract. He returned to Killeen Texas, where he was building a home.

In 2008, on a visit back home, he met the lovely Lisa McNeal and the couple married a year later, settling comfortably in a new Killeen subdivision.

He filled his days with his hobbies, grilling in the back yard, tinkering with his two Corvettes, bass fishing at Belton Lake with his buddy Lee Evans, or watching Old School television shows like Sanford & Son and Scooby Doo.And he loved road trips. After spending long hours on planes to Central Asia and beyond, he was not keen on flying anymore. He and Lisa were already planning a family reunion road trip in July to Mobile, Alabama.

As family and friends struggle with the shock and grief of this unexpected loss, we will honor Jerome's life by remembering his widow and living our best lives with love and happiness.

Jerome is survived by his wife Lisa A. Herring of Killeen, brothers Johnny Lee, Connell and Joseph Bolton, all of Wisconsin.  Adopted family, Jesse (Marjorie) Andrews of Wisconsin, Patricia (Owen) Tabois of Florida and relatives too numerous to count. He is also survived by his best
buddies, James and Barbara Polk and Alfred Smith of Killeen and Henry and Sherry Tyler of Georgia.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Etta Andrews in 2006, his biological mother, Bernice Herring in 2013, brother James, in 2021 and an older sister named Gladys, who died in infancy. His adopted brothers, James and Lee Edward also preceded him in death in 2020 and 2022.
