Funeral services for Retired SFC Isaac Richardson Howard 82, of Killeen, Texas will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at Westside Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas.
SFC Isaac Richardson Howard, Retired, was born on October 17, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was raised in a Christian home, and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
Isaac attended Central Texas College, University of Maryland Florida Internation University.
Isaac and Shirley were united in holy matrimony on July 20, 1973, in Il Paso, Texas and God Blessed them with 49 beautiful years of marriage. From this union they had 3 beautiful daughters, Quanda, Kezia, and Rhesa. He was a loving husband, devoted father who was well-liked and respected by all who knew him.
Mr. Howard served his country by serving in the United States Army and retired with full military honors after 21 years of service. During his tenure he served tours in Vietnam, Japan, Germany and Korea. He earned the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with 3 Bronze Service Stars), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert (Rifle), and Good Conduct Medal.
At an early age Isaac excelled in management and gained a passion for entrepreneurship. After retiring from the United States Army, he managed several clubs in the Central Texas/Fort Hood area including the NCO Club and Patton's Inn Club.
He also managed the Fort Hood Army Fisher House for many years where he gained a host of colleagues and friends. To satisfy his passion for entrepreneurship, he later owned several nightclubs in the Central Texas area. He was an avid golfer and owned a Golf Range in Killeen. Isaac was known for being a sharp dresser. His happiest times were spent golfing, watching boxing and listening to his grandchildren play.
On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Isaac completed his earthly assignment while making his journey into God's loving arms. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Viola Howard; three sisters Rebecca, Julie, Mary and two brothers; Samuel and James.
To treasure his memories, he leaves his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Howard of Killeen; three daughters, Quanda Howard-Gill (James) of Houston, Kezia Howard of Killeen and Rhesa Howard of Killeen; two sons, James Howard of Tennessee and Allen Howard of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandsons, James Smith of Wisconsin and Preston Howard of Killeen; two granddaughters, Lauren Gill and Morgan Gill of Houston. He also had a host of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
