Obituary

Burial with full military honors for Retired SSG Irving Langrum, Sr., 77 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Killeen, TX.

SSG Retired Irving Langrum Sr, 77, transitioned from his earthly realm to join his heavenly Father on September 17, 2022, in Killeen, Texas.

Born in Waco, Texas, March 30, 1945, he was the son of Alton Langrum and Elizabeth Lee Brinkley. Brother Langrum graduated high school at the age of seventeen, and afterwards enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served for 20 years. On September 17, 1966, he married the love of his life Sarah Mason, and they shared two children together. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in multiple states and countries. During his time in service, he earned multiple awards such as the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, & awarded the Good Conduct Medal six times.

He proudly served as an Usher at 19 th Street Chapel of Fort Hood, Texas until it closed July 2005. He then became a member of Westside Baptist Church of Killeen, Texas where he played the bass guitar for many years. He and Sis Langrum were also faithful members of the Gospel Travelers.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Edna Anderson, sister Bobbie King, sister Virginia Gregory, sister Linda Rogers and Mother & Father Alton Langrum and Eliza Lee Brinkley.

Bro Langrum is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sarah Langrum, his son Irving Langrum Jr; grandchildren Shayla Gillis, Devon Langrum, Quron Langrum; great-grandchildren, Zay'Vion and Ezra Gillis, brothers Edmond Brinkley and Ronnie Brinkley, sisters Helen Trotty and Dorethy Brooks, and a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
