Memorial Mass service for Retired 1SG Harris Joseph Mouton, 84 of Killeen, TX will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen, TX. Inurnment with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Retired 1SG Joseph Harris Mouton was born to Villa and Genevieve Mouton on December 15, 1937, in St. Martinsville, Louisiana.

Harris graduated from Carver High School in Breaux Bridge, LA. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 20, 1958. While serving his country he received the following awards: Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (1), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Overseas Service Bars (3), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w Palm, and the M-16 Rifle Expert Badge. He served for over 20 years, retiring with an honorable discharge. He also attended Pace University in Manhattan, New York. He was a past member of St. Gertrude's Church in Far Rockway, NY. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the
NAACP in New York. He was heavily involved in his church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his children: Harris J. Mouton of Killeen, TX, Karen M. Mouton of Killeen, TX, and Wendell J. Mouton of Mansfield, TX; brother, Joseph Lester Mouton (Carol) of Columbia, S.C.; sisters: Marie Mouton of Parks, LA, Ardie Johnson of Layfette, LA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Villa and Genevieve Mouton, and his sister, Georgia Jean Batiste.
