Funeral service for Retired SFC Gloria Delores Fletcher Speight, 79 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Speight passed away February 25, 2023, in Killeen, TX.

Gloria Delores Fletcher-Speight of Austin, TX was born October 11, 1943, to Bessie Mae Futrell and Willie Fletcher. After graduating high school, Gloria married Walter Thompson and had 4 beautiful children (Terri Lynn, Twins Darrell & Danny & Walter J. Thompson).

After starting her family, Gloria later enlisted in the United States Army. She traveled the world, retired after 20 years, and had a successful real estate career. She later met her loving husband of 26 years, Marcellus Speight Jr. while stationed at Ft. Hood.

Gloria was a multifaceted beautiful woman of God. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Sister & Granny. She spent her time loving, giving and caring for others.

She was predeceased by her mother, father, 2 children Darrell & Danny Thompson and husband, Marcellus Speight Jr.

Gloria leaves to rejoice in her home-going her children, Terri L. Williams (Rick); Walter J. Thompson (Valarie); 4 sisters Ida Haywood, Diana Fletcher, Cindy Showels & Regina Fletcher Russell; grandchildren, Brittany Wilkins (Larry), Jordan Thompson-Williams, Deval Heath (Altisha), Toya Marrero (Edward) & Darryl Matthews (Tasha); great-grands, Bryson & Brayden Wilkins, Noah & Viviana Heath, Winston Marshall, Darryl Ali, Dante, Sasha, Molina, Lilyana & Lennox Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
