Funeral service for Retired MSG Fred Robert Bowie 81, of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, TX. Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Burial with full military honors will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, 1:45 p.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio Texas.

Mr. Bowie passed away May 14, 2024, in Killeen, TX. He was born February 1, 1943, in San Antonio, TX.

Fred Robert Bowie the eighth child of fifteen children, born to Nicey Lee and Luther Bowie on February 1, 1943.

Fred graduated from St. Peter Catholic School, San Antonio, Texas in 1960. He worked for HEB Warehouse until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1965.

On May 8, 1965, Fred married the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Anthony. God blessed them with three children: Robert, Samuel, and Estelle.

Fred and his family joined the Christian House of Prayer on November 20, 1989, where he served faithfully as an Usher, Reach Out and Touch Ministry and the Super Saints Auxiliary. He also graduated from Sonship School of the Firstborn in 2015.

Fred served 25 years in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston, Fort Ord, California, Okinawa, Japan, Vietnam, Fort Riley, Kansas, Heilbron, Germany and lastly, Fort Hood, Texas. While serving his country, he received the following medals and ribbons: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3/Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Army Service Ribbons, Overseas Service Ribbon numeral 3, Republic of Vietnam Champaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm and the Sharpshooter Badge Rifle. After a successful military career, Fred was employed by DynCorp at Fort Hood, Texas, where he later retired in June of 2012.

Fred's two sons, Samuel and Robert Bowie, his parents, Luther and Nicey Lee Hockley and thirteen siblings preceded him in death.

Fred leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 59 years, Bobbie Bowie of Killeen, TX; daughter Estelle Alexander (Leon) of Quincy, FL; two grandchildren: Erika and Leon LaCarius Alexander of Quincy, FL; one sister, Annette Bowie of San Antonio, TX; one sister-in-law, Janice Gee of San Antonio, TX; one brother-in-law, Willie George Anthony (Ruby) of San Antonio, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, great-grand god children, other relatives and friends.
