Funeral service for Retired SGM Eugene Condor Talley, 85 of Killeen TX will be held Monday, July 19, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 18, 2021 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Mr. Talley passed away July 7, 2021 in Harker Heights, TX.

A Life Well Lived

Eugene Condor Talley was born on July 30, 1935, to Tom and Lena (Kirkpatrick) Talley in Hermitage Tennessee.

He attended Haynes High School in Nashville, Tennessee.  Eugene played the trombone in the band.

Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army.  He attended several military schools.  During his military career he was stationed at several stateside locations (Fort Leonardwood, MO, Fort Chaffee AR, Beale Air Force Base, CA, 1st Cavalry Division; Fort Hood, TX, USARR; Fort Monmouth, NJ) and several overseas assignments (Germany; 3 tours- 32 ^nd Armor, 66 ^th Armor and 68 ^th Armor and Korea-2 ^nd INF Division).  During his career he received numerous awards and decorations.  He retired after 26 years of honorable military service having achieved the rank of Sergeant Major.

After retirement from the United States Army, Eugene attended Central Texas College.  Later he worked on Fort Hood for 15 years as a government Civil Service employee.  In addition, he was a real estate investor in the Killeen area. Eugene enjoyed rehabbing his rental properties.  He was actively involved in helping to coach Little League baseball in both Killeen, Texas and New Jersey.

Eugene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family.  He was a true-blue DALLAS COWBOYS fan and enjoyed traveling to different places.

Eugene Condor Talley was preceded in death by his beloved son, Eugene "Cedric" Talley; parents, Tom and Lena Talley, sisters, Elizabeth Talley Garrett, Ruby Talley Hockett, and Elizabeth Talley Cohen; brothers, Thomas Talley, Hercules Talley and Theron Talley.

Survivors include his devoted wife Merdine, "Dean" Talley; daughter, Michelle Denise Talley Alexander, grandsons, Michael David Alexander and Carlton Condor Talley, granddaughter, Clarice Catina Lowe Mares (Luis) and great grandson Marlow Angel Mares.  Eugene also has a host of nieces and nephews that he truly cherished.

Eugene knew that blood does not always define family so his other "children" include; Kimberly Davis (John), Von Guide (Henry), Rev. Rosa Kea, Richard Bell, Glenn Snell, Tony Holloway, Jeffery Turner, Cindy Bass, The "Douse Girls", Manjang-Morgan family and Johnson Osoro.
