Obituary

Funeral service for Retired SSG Elias Arano Sarrosa, Jr., 58 of Killeen, TX was held Monday, March 8, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with military honors followed the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing was held two hours prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.

Elias Arano Sarrosa, Jr. was born August 15, 1962 to parents Amparo and Elias Arano Sarrosa, Sr in Tamuning, Guam. He graduated from George Washington High School in Guam in 1981.

After graduation Elias enlisted in the United State Army. He served his country proudly for 20 years. Elias served during the Panama Conflict War.  He retired in 2001 receiving an honorable discharge. His medals, awards and ribbons include: the Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star (BSS), Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), Nato Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-M Bar, and the Silver German Army Marksmanship Badge. After his military career Elias was employed with the Civil Service on Fort Hood for the Department of Public Works (DPW), retiring in 2019.

Elias was an Entrepreneur and started EZ Pig Roast & Catering in Killeen, TX in 1994. Chamorro food was his passion, and his number one joy was his family.

Elias was a life member of the VFW Post 3892 in Harker Heights, TX, and the American Legion in Killeen, TX.

Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Zina R. Sarrosa; son, Joshua N. Sarrosa (Joyce); daughters, Elisha A. Tiliaia (Wayne), and Rowena C. Sarrosa; brothers, Edwin Sarrosa, Edgar Sarrosa (Bernice), and Edel Sarrosa; sister, Rowena Banez (Jim); grandchildren, J'Olani, Jolina, Johana, Joleia, Josiah, Nicolas, Kehina, Zina, Teuina, and King; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Amparo and Elias Sarrosa, Sr., brother, Crisostomo Sarrosa, and sisters, Carolina Sarrosa and Zenaida Cruz.
