Funeral service for Retired SFC Eddie Wright, 65 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025, 12:00 p.m. at Anderson Chapel AME Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 24, 2025 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Eddie Wright, 65, of Harker Heights, Texas, passed on November 7, 2025.  Born June 25, 1960, in Lynchburg, South Carolina, Eddie was the son of Curtis Wright, Sr., and Josephine Scarborough Wright. Eddie joined Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Elliott, South Carolina, at an early age, which provided the foundation for a life of faith and service.

Eddie attended Mount Pleasant High School (Class of 1978), where he played football and participated in the marching band. After high school, he attended Claflin College (now Claflin University) for a short time, where he met his wife (married 1986), Retia Alexis Wright. He then answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army.

SFC Retired Eddie Wright served his country with honor as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic from 1978 until 1999. He spent most of his military career in Fort Hood, TX, and he also supported global operations, including deploying during Operation Desert Storm. After retiring from the Army, he continued to shape lives as a drill instructor at the Georgetown Alternative Program, where he worked for 23 years.

Eddie was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider. He was a proud long-time member of the Horny Toad Harley Owners Group, where he made lifelong friendships and once served as chapter historian, a role he took great pride in. He later continued his passion for riding as a member of the Royalty Riding Club. Above all, Eddie was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. His granddaughter, Brielle, brought him endless joy, and his face lit up every time he saw her. He was a friend to many, always ready to drop everything to help those in need and was deeply respected by the people in his life. Eddie was also a talented artist and expressed his creativity through drawing, painting, and woodworking.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Retia Alexis Wright; his children Eddie Jenia Wright and Brittney Jenea (Jaquendez) Minnitt; his granddaughter Brielle Harlowe Minnitt; and his siblings Curtis (Alma) Wright, Jr., Charles (the late Shirley) Wright, Virginia (the late William) McClane, Ethel Commander, and Christine (Wolney T.) Jackson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Wright, Sr., and Josephine Scarborough Wright; siblings Harry Wright, Daniel Wright, Joseph Wright, Clifton Wright, and George Wilson.

He also leaves behind in-laws Nancy Wright, Joey Price, Lueketia Foxworth, Quintine Myers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

Eddie lived a life of service, love, and joy. His legacy will forever live on in the many people he touched.
