Funeral services for Retired SSG David Wayne Wilson 67, of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at God's Way Community Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the church.

Mr. Wilson passed away July 22, 2022, in Temple, TX.

David Wayne Wilson was born October 11, 1954, to parents Lorine Green and Artie Wilson in Cameron, TX. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1974.

Soon after graduating David enlisted in the United States Army where he served his county proudly for 20 years. During his service he served in the Desert Shield and Kuwait wars. He received an honorable discharge in 1994. His medals, awards and ribbons include: The Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 3, Marksman Badge Rifle, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

After his military career he worked for the VA in Temple, TX and the Scott & White Hospital in Killeen, TX for 20 Years and then retired. David was a past member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Cameron, TX. He was a present member of God's Way Community Church in Killeen, TX, where he served as an usher and was a deacon.

Left to cherish his memories: wife, Joyce C. Wilson of Killeen, TX; sons, Douglas D. Wilson (Shelia) of Killeen, TX, and Kerry L. Pope of Waco, TX; daughter, Keisha D. Wilson (Christopher) of Copperas Cove, TX; sister, Norma Jean Madison of Hinesville, GA; six grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorine and Artie Wilson, brothers Willie James and Artie Wilson, and sisters Dorothy Smith, and Bonnie Lemons.
