Funeral service for Retired MSG Bob Rachal, Sr., 71 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
Mr. Rachal passed away May 5, 2021 in Harker Heights, TX.
Bob Rachal, Sr., was born September 8, 1949 to parents Vera Joffrion and Joseph Rachal in Pineville, LA. He graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in 1967. Bob was the oldest of four siblings.
He enlisted into the United States Army and served his county proudly. He received an honorable discharge, his awards, medals, and ribbons include: The Bronze Star Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal w/"V" Device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal w/"V" Device, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Service Star, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 5, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksman Badge Rifle, Valorous Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Cross Unit Citation Badge w/Palm, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Service Star, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars.
Bob liked to barbecue, watch sports and old western shows and most of all spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Ruth Marie Rachal; daughter, Rita Rachal; son, Bob Rachal, Jr.; sister, Peggy Williams; brother, Jimmie Rachal; grandchildren, Christopher, Alicia, Omar, Jr., Anastasia, and Michael; great-grandchild, Jacobi; nieces, Shonda, Nairobi, and Sherita; nephews, Jermaine, David, Latrail, and Jason; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vera Joffrion and Joseph Rachal and brother Field Rachal.
