Funeral services for Retired SFC Bob Evans, 86 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, Texas. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, SFC Bob Evans was called home at the age of 86. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and highly regarded role model for all who knew him. Mr. Evans died peacefully with his beloved wife Rebecca and family at his side.

Bob was born on January 23, 1936, in Heidelberg, Mississippi. He was the younger of two sons, born to father, June Evans and mother, Rebecca Dozier Evans. After attending Wesley Chapel Elementary School in Jones County, Mississippi, Bob went on to Oak Park Vocational High School where he graduated in 1956.

Upon his graduation, Mr. Evans entered the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, where he met his lovely wife, Rebecca. Bob and Rebecca united in holy matrimony on July 16, 1959. They were blessed to have shared 63 years of marriage. From this union came four beautiful daughters, Carmen, Robin, Bobbie Ann, and Joy. Bob loved the Lord and served at Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church for 10 years. He was a member of Christian House of Prayer since 2003 at the time of his passing. Mr. Evans graduated from Sonship School of the Firstborn Class of 2017.

Mr. Evans faithfully served his country during duty assignments in Panama , Korea, Germany, and the United States. During his time in the military, he served as a Dental Assistant and Dental Hygienist before retiring after twenty-two years of service. Mr. Evans received many awards for his dedicated service including: the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and six Good Conduct Medals. As a civilian, Mr. Evans attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry Veterans Administration Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where he earned a Dental Laboratory Technology Certification. This allowed Bob to continue his dental career as a Dental Laboratory Technician for an additional 19 years—three years at Quintessence Laboratories in Laurel, Mississippi and 16 years at the Billy Johnson Dental Clinic, Fort Hood, Texas. Mr. Evans earned the Commander's Award for Civil Service and was inducted as a lifetime member in the select order of the Armored Mobile Molars for long standing devoted service to Fort Hood DENTAC.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, June and Rebecca D. Evans; and one brother, Norman Ray Evans. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Rebecca Evans of Killeen; four daughters, Carmen Evans (Melvin) Gooden of Killeen, Texas, Robin Evans (Gregory) Walter of Humble, Texas, Bobbie Ann Evans of Harker Heights, Texas, and Joy Denice Evans of Pflugerville, Texas; five grandchildren, Toni Johnson, Donovan Johnson, Tres Evans Johnson, Sherri Williams, and Lauren Carter; and four great-grandchildren Zoey, Zamir, Melanie, and Zaylen.
