Memorial service for Retired SFC Alfred Welton Simmons, 83 of Killeen, TX will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow the service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mr. Simmons passed away June 27, 2025, in Killeen, TX. He was born June 6, 1942, in Richmond, VA.

Alfred Welton Simmons, our beloved father, who lived in Killeen, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 83. He was a proud American and a respected veteran of the United States Army. Alfred Simmons was born on June 6, 1942, in Boydton, Virginia, to Thomas Simmons and Sara Alice Tunstall. He spent his early years in the Vienna and Richmond, Virginia area, and later attended and graduated from high school. In 1965, he enlisted in the Army and served until 1985, achieving the rank of SFC. He participated in the Vietnam War. During his military career, he received awards and medals: the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, one Silver and one Bronze Service star.

While stationed at Ft. Huachuca, Alfred Simmons married the love of his Life, Willie Delores Revish on February 23, 1974. During our father's military career, we were stationed in Heilbronn, Germany (Stuttgart); Fort Ord, California; and Fort Hood, Texas in 1981. He also served in Korea. Following his military retirement, Alfred Simmons spent three years working overseas in logistics before returning home, ultimately, retiring from the Texas Department of Corrections in 2002.

Throughout the years, my father cultivated a love for the game of bowling. He relished the opportunity to compete with his teammates at local, regional, and national levels. Participating in the USBC Open Bowling Championships tournaments was a particular highlight for him. Our father was an avid Washington Commanders fan. Our father demonstrated exceptional character and integrity. In every pursuit, he represented a spirit of excellence, passing those values on to us for the generations to come. He was a kind and selfless individual. He had a profound love for his wife, his family, and everyone who crossed his path. Today, we honor your life, and may you find peace in the embrace of the Heavenly Father.

Alfred Simmons is survived by his sons, Maurice Simmons and Eric Jon Simmons; daughters, Gail Simmons and Kristal Morris, Grandsons Timothy Simmons, Christopher Morris and Javaughn Simmons; and Granddaughters, Danielle Green, Shawntele Green, Saraye Green, Lauren Morris, Erica Simmons, Graciella and Gabriella Simmons and Latoya Brown, one daughter-in-law, Heike Simmons and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Simmons and Sara Alice Tunstall; wife, Willie Delores Simmons; son, Fabian Simmons; and a total of three siblings.
