Services for retired SFC Albert Lavell Foster, 76 of Waskom, TX., will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen.  Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.).

Mr. Foster died August 6, 2022, in Waskom, TX.

SFC (Ret) Albert Lavell Foster was born September 11, 1945, in Jefferson, Texas to the late Johnnie Foster Sr. and Dora Foster. Albert graduated from Central High School in Jefferson, TX. in 1963.  He married his high school sweetheart, Delores Sasser of Kellyville, TX. on December 24, 1964, and they were married for 41 years.  He attended Texas College in Tyler, TX., prior to being drafted into the United States Army to which he served 23 years as a Tactical Communications Chief and an Administration Specialist.

During his tour of service, Albert received several awards to include a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 2 NCO Professional Development Ribbons, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and an Expert Badge (Rifle).  His duty stations were Panama Canal Zone, Panama (2 tours), Fort Hood, TX. (2 tours), and Europe.  SFC Albert Foster retired and honorably discharged at Fort Hood, Tx. in 1987. He worked for TDJC as a correctional officer for several years, and subsequently was hired at the USPS distribution center in Shreveport Louisiana to which he retired after 24 years of service.

Albert had many interests and hobbies to include recording music, singing, playing the piano, tennis, watching football, landscaping, and photography.  He was best known for his green thumb.  Albert historically won awards for having the most beautiful yards and royal rose bushes (Queen Elizabeth roses were his favorite).

Albert's soul was called home on 8/6/22. He was survived by his 3 daughters and their spouses, Christal & Dre Thomas of Temple, Tx, Lenora Foster of Killeen, TX., Sheila & Autha Polk of Killeen, TX, 5 grandchildren, Shanice Lee, Adrian Lee, Sabina Bunch whom he raised as his own, Niarra Thomas, & Cheyenne Ferrell, 3 great grandchildren, Amaya, Adrian Jr. & Amelie; his eldest sister Loretta Davis of Fort Worth, TX & Dorothy Knight of Marshall, TX., and a host of nieces, nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Dora Foster, brothers Johnnie Foster Jr. and Bobby Foster.
