Funeral services for Mrs. Polly Ann Armstrong 82, of Harker Heights, TX will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Simmonsville MBC in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.

Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Mrs. Armstrong passed away August 30, 2023, in Harker Heights, TX. She was born March 26, 1941.

Polly Ann Armstrong passed away August 30, 2023, after battling Alzheimer's Dementia and Parkinson's. It would be wrong to say that Polly lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how her memory faded, or her hands shake, she was determined to not let that stop her from still being Polly.

Polly was born in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana to the late Booker T. and Wanda Lee Andres (Carter). She accepted Christ and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Crosby Texas.  She graduated from Charles R. Drew High School and was a student athlete. Along with her sisters, Delphine, and Robbie they played high school basketball and track. They were known as the "Andres Sisters" and everyone hated to play against them, even the boys.

Polly married CSM (Ret) Edward Lee Armstrong on February 9, 1961, and together they had two children. Pamela and Chris (Juanita) Armstrong both of Killeen. She adopted her granddaughter Felicia Brown (Shawn) of Houston. TX at birth. Polly was instrumental in raising her grandchildren; Whitnee Lyons of San Antonio, TX (Roshun), Ryan Bryant of Killeen. TX, Gianni Cheverez of Columbus. OH, and Auri'ayana Williams of Killeen, TX.

Polly was a dedicated homemaker. She was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother. She cared deeply for her family, friends and church members. She was a devoted church member, faithful to her choir and mission sisters. Before her illness, Polly was a member of the Mass Choir, Senior Mission II, Pastor's and Wife Anniversary Committee and Culinary committee.

Polly was a professional travel bowler. She was a member of the Professional Women Bowling Association, Women's International Bowling Association, National Bowling Association, and the Military Wives Bowling League. She was known as "helicopter" because of the way she threw the ball. Polly competed in the National Bowling Tournament for several years. She was a WTBC champion, league champion and mixed league champion. Her bowling career was over 20 years, she received several awards and set many records in the league.

In her pastime she enjoyed cooking and was a well-known baker in the Killeen area. People would stand in line to purchase her famous teacakes. She also enjoyed bank fishing and watching professional sports. Polly was a die-hard Cowboy's fan.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister Lillian Mouton and uncle Pastor Frank Carter both of Houston TX. She will be missed by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
