Killeen
Funeral service for Mrs, Noelia Martinez, 67 of Killeen, TX will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service (10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.
Noelia was born on February 17, 1954, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, the oldest of five children to Juan Herminio Ortiz and Lourdes Alvarez Ortiz.
Noelia was a loving and devoted mother to her sons, Manuel and Gary. She worked hard as a single mother to provide for them, working for over 40 years as an accounts receivable specialist for various retail, banking, and finance companies. She was like a second mother to many, including her nieces and nephews; she adored her granddaughter and treasured her time with her.
Noelia's beautiful smile and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone made it easy for her to make friends wherever she went. She cherished her friends and maintained several lifelong friendships over the years. She could often be found with a friend or two at her favorite Mexican restaurant, eating tacos and drinking coffee.
Noelia loved shopping; even as her health declined, she always managed to find the energy to go to Beall's, Kohl's, or Bath and Body Works. She was a night owl and enjoyed staying up late to watch TV and order from QVC. When visiting her home, it was not uncommon to find her living room full of gift bags for family and friends' upcoming birthdays or special occasions.
Noelia had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She loved spending time at the beach, whether it was in Puerto Rico, Panama, Hawaii, or South Padre Island. She also enjoyed visiting her brother and his family in Arizona for extended periods of time.
Noelia had a servant's heart. In healthier times, she enjoyed taking friends to doctor's appointments. Even as she first started her long battle with cancer, Noelia continued tohelp people complete legal forms and navigate the health care system.
Noelia was a devoted member of Iglesia Cristiana Misionera A.I.C. in Killeen, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wanda Santana.
Noelia is survived by: her husband, Daniel Gonzalez, of Killeen, Texas; sons, Manuel Medrano of Killeen, Texas, and Gary Medrano, and his wife, Yvonne, of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Xavier Medrano; granddaughter, Grace Medrano; siblings, Dempsey Ortiz of Phoenix, Arizona, Willy Ortiz of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Nancy Sanchez, of Hewitt, Texas; and her beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
