Mrs. Calhoun passed away April 23, 2021 in Killeen, TX.
Nina Carlene Williams Calhoun was born January 14, 1951, to Harvey and Beatrice Anderson in Detroit, MI. She was the youngest of four children, and she enjoyed a very happy and loving childhood. She graduated from Central High School in 1968.
After graduation, Nina worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for several years. From there, she became a faithful telephone operator at AT&T for 14 years.
Nina accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1979. Prior to relocating to Copperas Cove, TX, she would visit CHOP as a result of watching Bishop Holcomb's television broadcast on the Word Network. After one of those visits, Nina heard the LORD tell her to move to Texas. She shared what she had heard from the Lord with her pastor, Bishop Andrew Merritt. About a year and a half later, Bishop Merritt told her it was time for her to make her move. She was released with his blessing, and he prophesied certain things that truly came to pass in Nina's life once she came to Texas. She became a full-fledged member of the Christian House of Prayer on April 28, 1999. Bishop Holcomb fondly called her his first-fruit from the broadcast in Detroit.
Since joining the Christian House of Prayer, she has ministered with these auxiliaries: Unseen Hands, SWAT, WWP Choir, and Reach Out and Touch. Nina became a member of the CHOP staff on August 15, 1999. She served as the Administrative Assistant at Perfect Praise Learning Center until September 2004, then she became a member of the Finance Department, where she served until her promotion. Nina was a graduate of the inaugural class of Sonship School of The Firstborn in 2007.
Although Nina experienced many challenges during her adult life, she always positively believed God. She married the love of her life, Zenepha (Sonny) Calhoun on September 25, 2015. For over five and a half years, Nina thanked the LORD for giving her a husband who truly loved her. Nina's devotion to the LORD, her church, family, friends, and work was phenomenal. 2 Timothy 4:7 embodied Nina. We are grateful for the life, love, legacy, and laughter she shared.
Left to cherish her memory: loving husband, Zenepha (Sonny) Calhoun, Killeen, TX; daughter, Kiyoko Williams, LaGuna Hills, CA; son, Melvin Williams, Jr., Detroit, MI; grandson, Kai Williams-Hines, LaGuna Hills, CA; sister, Veda (Nate) Andrews, Columbia, SC; step-in-daughters, LaSandria (Bernard) Joseph, Daytona Beach, FL; Keisha (Dexter) Jones, Decatur, GA; Zenepha Calhoun, Mesquite, TX; spiritual sisters, Ramona (Alvin) Johnson, Copperas Cove, TX; Inez Williams, Joliet, IL; Karen (Marvin) Williams, Killeen, TX; Debra Robinson, Killeen, TX, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved friends, the CHOP staff, and all of the CHOP family.
Nina was preceded in death by: her parents, Harvey and Beatrice Anderson; brother, Harvey Douglas Anderson; sister, Denise Carter-Shaw.
