Funeral services for Ms. Neverlynnn Hallie Davis, 68 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

On Sunday, December 4, 2022, the Lord opened the heavens and called his child Neverlynn Hallie Davis, home.

Neverlynn was born in Autumn to Jo Ella and George Davis, on November 2, 1954. She has two siblings, an older brother, Ronald Hester Sr., and a younger sister Fostina Davis.

Neverlynn was raised in Chicago, Illinois. Her love for the Chicago lifestyle became unmatched. She relished Chicago's rib-tips, gyro sandwiches, polish sausages, soul food, and deep-dish pizza. Her love affair with basketball was initiated in Chicago. The days of her youth would be spent dancing (she excelled at dancing, horse-back riding, swimming, cheerleading, playing with her friends/sibling/cousins, working at Sesame Street, and enjoying time with her family. She had very fond memories of riding the L train, attending concerts, and the lovely winter snow.

The importance of education was instilled into her at a very early age and her parents made certain that she attended the best schools. She excelled both academically and socially at St. Bernard Grammar School and at the prestigious Cathedral High School. Neverlynn overcame many barriers and injustices while attending the predominately white Cathedral High School in the sixties and seventies and went on to graduate at the top of her class. Her diligence was rewarded with an all-expense, full scholarship, to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. During her time at Bradley University, Neverlynn studied Pre-Medicine and got involved with volunteering and community service. She pledged and was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha ETA Chapter. She loved her sorors! She met many life-long friends there, many of whom she still talked to on Google Meet and Facebook.

After the loss of her father, George Davis, Neverlynn's mother, Jo Ella, relocated back to her place of birth, New Orleans, Louisiana. Jo Ella wanted to live near her family and investment properties. In the late eighties, in search of better job opportunities, Neverlynn also relocated to New Orleans with her spouse and two older children. While in New Orleans, her family expanded to include three more beautiful children. Neverlynn worked as a deputy with the New Orleans Sheriff's Department for many years before deciding to go back to school to finish her degree. She was called to nursing and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1993. She found her purpose and passion in the nursing field and would frequently recruit and inspire other women to go into the profession. She developed her leadership skills. Formulating awards. Neverlynn was a devoted and caring nurse. She excelled in her profession and succeeded to the administrative level of Director of Nursing. Her dedication and skill inspired two of her daughters to follow in her footsteps in the nursing field.

In 2005, she experienced a substantial loss and was displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She relocated her family to Killeen, Texas, as it gave her the opportunity to live life near her grandchildren and daughter who was enlisted in the United States Army. She gained new employment at Heritage Park Rehabilitation Center. She worked diligently there and received many awards. Her likable nature made it easy for her to make new friends amongst her employees, colleagues, and patients.

After many years battling vague illnesses, she was diagnosed with Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disease (C.O.P.D.). In conjunction with the progressive disease, she pressed forward with a joyous spirit; she was a fighter! After a fourteen-year battle, her fight ended on December 4, 2022, at Seton Hospital.

Neverlynn devoted her time on this earth to being a loving mother to her children, neighborhood children, grandchildren, and to anyone that was receptive to her warm embrace. She was a giver and would frequently place the needs of others above her own.

Her leisure activities included discussing politics, social justices/injustices; she loved a good debate! She loved film and the creative performing arts, science, bowling, and reading. The ability to figure math problems made her the best homework helper. She adored basketball, her favorite teams were the Chicago Bulls (Michael Jordan) and ore recently the Golden State Warriors (Steph Curry). Without a doubt, her family was truly her entertainment. She was known to "put a needle to the record" while encouraging her family to sing and dance. One great skill she was complimented on most was her ability to cook. She showed her love through whipping up satisfactory memorable meals.

She dedicated her time to bible studies and portraying God's loving nature. Neverlynn was a kind and gentle, yet strong soul. She leaves her generous nature with us.

She is survived by her five children: Alexis Jimerson, LaDonna Walker (Tyree Walker Sr.), Aaron Davis (Dominique Davis), Tamika Davis, Jamaala Waller Jr., Jalynn Fletcher-Davis, Jeremiah Tabron, Zion Davis, Zora Davis, Juelz King, and Tyree Walker Jr. Her two great-grandchildren: Jordan Jimerson Jr. and Josiah Jimerson. Her sister, Fostina Davis, and her brother Ronald Hester Sr. (Norma Jean Hester). Her niece: Kiante Connor. Her nephews: Ronald Hester Jr., Stephen Hester, Jarvus Hester. Her great-nephews, Nigel Hester and Stephen Hester Jr. Great-niece, Harper Hester. She also leaves behind a host of friends, caregivers, employees, and collages.

Neverlynn was preceded in death by her parents, Jo Ella and George Davis, nephew, Larnell Davis, and great-nephew, Daniel Hester. Her legacy will continue to live in the hearts and minds of everyone that she touched.
